The four catches to check before you commit
A journal only pays off if you keep using it for months. That makes the free-tier fine print matter more than the feature list:
- Card required? A "free trial" that takes your card is a paid plan with a grace period. Fine — just know which one you're signing up for, and diarise the cancellation date.
- Monthly trade cap. A cap of a few dozen trades a month is generous for a swing trader and useless for a day trader, who can blow through it in a week. This is the catch that bites active traders first.
- History window. Some free tiers hide trades older than a certain age. That's the difference between "I can see my quarter" and "I can see last week."
